Grooms Toast Ideas
Posted by grooms-speeches-help on November 4th, 2009Every wedding will have a time for a grooms toast and it is generally a memorable speech regardless of how short it may be. You should keep in mind that this should be a light-hearted moment focused on stories and anecdotes about the bride, your wedding party members, or family members.
Keep Your Wedding Toast Short And Simple
Your grooms toast should be no longer than 3-4 minutes, and even shorter if possible, as guests can become bored easily and will tend to tune you out. A quick thank you to a best man, parents or other wedding party member is always a safe bet.
Avoid inside jokes, off-color jokes, or inappropriate remarks about the person or persons the toast is directed. Nothing will put your guests more ill-at-ease than an off color joke regardless of how funny it may be. You really don’t want your wedding guests, bride or parents to have to endure an ill-conceived toast, so keep it simple.
The subject of your wedding toast can compliment your grooms speech with a short version of a personal memory, a funny experience with the target of the toast, or just a heart-felt thanks for a special person’s support in the past. Humorous and funny wedding toasts can keep the party lively and keep the mood upbeat. But a personal story or anecdote can be a memorable moment that is remembered by all the wedding guests.
The choice is always yours, but it is extremely important for you, the groom, to be prepared for your toast. Don’t try to wing it, unless you are a professional wedding speech presenter.

Wedding Toast Etiquette
Now a few words of advice if you and the bride are the target of a toast. This is something that is often not considered at wedding receptions, but there is a right and wrong way to react when you are being toasted. If you are the recipient of a wedding toast, which you will be sure to experience, everybody except you and the bride should stand until the toast is completed.
Upon completion of the toast, which may sound like, “Won’t you please join me in a toast for Mr. and Mrs.”, the guests should raise their glasses in a toast, sip from their beverage and then be seated. This is your que for perhaps a kiss for the bride and a big smile.
